UK-Sino Collaborations: Increasing Dependability in Grids

Dependability is a key factor in any software system and has been made a core aim of the Globus based China Research Environment over Wide-area Network (CROWN) middleware. Our past research based around our Fault Injection Technology (FIT) framework has demonstrated that Network Level Injection can be a valuable tool in assessing the dependability of SOAP based middleware. This paper details our collaboration and demonstrates how the planed integration of Grid-FIT into the CROWN middleware benefits both the CROWN and Grid-FIT communities by providing a dependability assessment technique of CROWN and providing valuable model data for Grid-FIT.
